How to Use Jamaican Black Castor Oil for Hair, Skin and Massage

At Owaruuts, our advice is simple: hydrate first, then apply your oil. Start with slightly damp hair or skin after washing, or use a water-based moisturiser before applying your Jamaican Black Castor Oil.

Hydrate first → apply a little oil → adjust to your hair or skin.

Use a small amount and adjust to suit your routine. Don’t expect an overnight transformation. Give yourself time to learn how your hair and skin respond, and remember that individual experiences vary.

For your hair

Apply a small amount to your palms, rub them together, and work gently through damp hair, focusing on the areas where you want to apply it. You can also use it after your water-based leave-in moisturiser.

Start lightly rather than coating your hair heavily. Your hair’s texture and your styling routine will help you decide how much feels comfortable.

For styling, try a small amount to smooth flyaways or gently soften the stiff feel left by gel or styling creams when slicking back your hair.

You can also use it as a warm-oil treatment or blend a small amount into a single portion of your deep conditioner, if the conditioner’s directions allow. Keep the oil comfortably warm, never hot, and check the temperature before applying.

For your skin

After bathing, gently pat your skin so it remains slightly damp, or apply your usual water-based moisturiser first. Smooth a small amount of oil over the area you want to care for.

Try a small area first before applying more widely, particularly if the product is new to your routine.

For dry areas such as heels, knees and elbows, smooth on a small amount after hydrating your skin. Apply only to intact skin, avoiding broken or irritated areas.

For massage

Jamaican Black Castor Oil has a thick texture. If you enjoy that richness, use it on its own. For a lighter feel, blend a small amount with another carrier oil you already know suits your skin, adjusting to your preference.

Warm the oil between your palms before massaging gently onto intact skin. Start with a small amount and adjust as needed.

Before applying, warm the oil between your palms. Alternatively, stand a tightly closed bottle in warm, not hot, water, keeping water out of the bottle. Check that the oil feels comfortably warm before use.

Massage gently over intact skin, using comfortable pressure. Avoid irritated or broken skin.

Make it your own routine

Consistency is about finding a manageable routine, not applying more oil or expecting a guaranteed result. Adjust the amount and frequency to how your hair and skin respond.

For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Stop using the product if irritation occurs.
